Lake Pasadena Neighborhood Driveways in St. Petersburg
Lake Pasadena sits on the west side of St. Petersburg, a short run from Pasadena and Boca Ciega Bay. Lots are mostly mid-century, garages sit close to the street, and summer rain has nowhere to go if the driveway crowns toward the slab.
What fails first
The usual failure is a thin sand bed over native soil. After a few wet seasons the field pumps, the soldier course walks, and the garage lip becomes a trip edge. Re-sanding the joints does not fix a base that was never compacted.
Excavate to a depth that leaves room for compacted aggregate, not a skim of bedding sand.
Pitch the field away from the garage slab and toward a legal street or side-yard outfall.
Pin a rigid edge so the first course does not creep into the apron.
Match the garage-slab elevation so the threshold is a step-down, not a dam.
Apron and city approach
The private field stops at the right-of-way. If the city sidewalk or apron has been ground and raised, the new throat has to meet that elevation without a birdbath at the flare. We set the throat first, then build the field back to the slab.
