The paver field has to respect the brick street out front and the floor elevation of a house that may be a century old.

Scale and water

We keep the court off the trunk flare, sleeve any landscape lighting before the base, and pitch the field to a discreet drain so water does not run at the stem wall. Colors stay in the sand and clay range that already lives on these streets. A bright modern blend reads wrong against brick and clapboard, and it is harder to repair later.
