Methodist Town Paver Yards in South St. Petersburg

Methodist Town is the historic pocket just south of downtown St. Petersburg, between the Gas Plant blocks and the 16th Street South corridor. Lots are tight, oaks sit close to the apron, and a thin sand bed will walk after one wet season.

What the yard has to do

Most fronts are short. The garage lip, the city sidewalk, and the neighbor fence leave little room to stockpile base. We set the finished paver elevation off the slab first so a car does not scrape and stormwater still sheets to the street instead of the stoop.

  • Confirm property pins before the first saw cut so the flare does not creep onto the neighbor.

  • Excavate to a compacted aggregate base. Fill sand will not lock a field by itself.

  • Pitch away from the house toward a legal outfall, not a pond at the garage.

  • Use a rigid edge so the first course does not walk into the parkway.

Shade, roots, and matching

Live oaks heave a sand-set field. Where a root is the high point, we undercut, add a root barrier where it will not girdle the tree, and reset only the failed bay instead of overlaying the hump. Color is specified through-body so a later repair unit does not flash a painted face.
