Minnesota Avenue NE Shore Acres Courtyards
Minnesota Avenue NE courtyards sit behind older Shore Acres houses where the lanai, the screen cage, and a small patio were added in stages. Each addition left a joint. Those joints are where the field opens after a wet season.
Staged patios, one drainage problem
The original slab is higher than the later paver field. Water from the cage roof lands on the joint and runs toward the house. Cage posts punched through a thin base and now rock. Furniture legs catch the lip between the two surfaces.
We treat the courtyard as one plane. That can mean re-leveling the paver section to the slab, or cutting a clean border and resetting the posts on a proper footing pad. We do not bury the problem under a new layer of sand.
Courtyard scope we quote
Match height at the slider and the lanai step
Isolate screen-cage post pads from the walking field
Pull water to the yard, not the stem wall
Reuse sound pavers when the base is the only failure
