Setting a Flush Sewer-Lateral Cleanout Ring in a Pinellas Paver Drive
Sewer-lateral cleanouts land in Pinellas driveways more often than owners expect. A lid left proud of the pavers becomes a trip edge and a tire bump. A lid left low fills with joint sand and disappears until the line backs up.
Ring the lid, do not bury it
We set a grade ring so the cleanout cap finishes flush with the paver field. A soldier-course ring locks the cut units around the frame. Bedding sand stops at the ring so it cannot migrate into the cleanout. The cap stays removable with a wrench, and we mark the location on the as-built photo packet.
If the cleanout sits in the wheel path, the ring gets a tighter border and the base is compacted around the stack so the frame does not settle below the field after the first month of traffic.
What stays with the plumber
We do not move the lateral or change the cap height below the finished grade the plumber set. If the stack is too low for a flush lid, that is a plumbing adjustment before we lock the field.
