Setting a Septic Tank Riser Grade Ring in a Pinellas Paver Side Yard
A septic tank that ends up under a finished paver side yard needs a riser the pumper can open. If the lid sits proud of the field, it becomes a trip edge. If it sits low, the joint sand washes in and the lid disappears.
Grade ring, not a buried lid
We set the riser to the finished paver elevation and build a soldier-course ring around the lid so the cut units do not rattle. The ring is restrained so mower wheels and foot traffic do not kick the first course off the lid frame. Bedding sand stops short of the riser wall so sand cannot migrate into the tank.
The field still pitches away from the house. The ring does not become a dam. We leave the lid screws accessible and tell the owner which units lift if the pumper needs a wider opening later.
Where this is not the right fix
We do not pave over a drain field, and we do not hide a lid that the county requires to stay visible. If the tank is in the truck path, we talk through a thicker border and a marked access before the field is locked.
