Vermont Avenue NE Shore Acres Courtyards
Vermont Avenue NE sits in Shore Acres, the canal neighborhood northeast of downtown St. Petersburg. Lots are shallow, oaks shade the side yards, and the rear of many homes faces a seawall. A courtyard here is usually the only flat outdoor room, so the paver field has to drain without dumping water against the house or the seawall cap.
PaverForge builds these courtyards on a compacted shell or crushed-concrete base, not loose sand. Edge restraint is pinned before the field is laid, and the slope is set toward a channel drain or the existing yard inlet rather than the lanai track. Salt air and irrigation overspray are the usual stain sources, so we leave a maintenance joint at the screen-cage posts instead of locking the pavers under the track.
If the old concrete slab has heaved, we remove it rather than overlay it. Overlay pads on Vermont Avenue tend to trap water at the house wall. A new base lets us reset the elevation to the finished-floor threshold and keep a step down at the seawall walk.
PaverForge Hardscapes is based in St. Pete Beach and works Shore Acres courtyard repairs and new installs. Call 727-490-9798 for a site look before the rainy season softens the base.
