Virginia Avenue NE Shore Acres Walkways

Virginia Avenue NE in Shore Acres is a short canal street with narrow side setbacks. The walk from the driveway to the front door often doubles as the path to the seawall. That means the paver run has to meet both the street apron and the cap elevation without a trip lip.

We cut the walk at oak roots instead of pouring a rigid band over them. A restrained paver walk can be lifted later when a root lifts a single course. Concrete walks on this street usually crack at the first root and then pond against the stucco. Edge restraint stays a few inches off the foundation so irrigation and hose bibs are not buried.

Where the walk meets the seawall landing, we hold a control joint and do not run the field over the cap bolts. Shore Acres caps move with the tide and with boat wake. A locked paver field over that joint is what pops the first course after a summer storm.

PaverForge Hardscapes installs and re-lays walkways on Virginia Avenue NE and the rest of Shore Acres. Call 727-490-9798 to schedule the look.
