466th Street North Ozona Paver Walkways
466th Street North in Ozona is a walk-up street: short front yards, mature oaks, and a path that has to carry guests, a hand cart, and the occasional flooded afternoon from the door to the sidewalk. A paver walkway here is a narrow structural field, not a decorative ribbon laid on native sand.
Width, fall, and the sidewalk joint
A usable walk is wide enough for two people to pass a planter, and it falls gently so water does not sit against the stem wall. The sidewalk joint is the usual failure. If the walk is high, it dams water on the yard side. If it is low, it becomes a puddle at the street. PaverForge cuts the last course to the existing sidewalk elevation and restrains that edge so the units cannot creep.
Roots and irrigation on an Ozona path
Ozona oaks lift a walk from one side. Chasing the hump with extra bedding sand makes the path a ramp. The better sequence is to expose the root, decide whether it can be bridged or has to be worked around, and rebuild the base only where it is sound. Irrigation heads that spray across the walk wash joint sand and leave a slick film. Heads belong at the edge, aimed away from the field, with a sleeve if the lateral has to cross the path.
Steps, landings, and night use
Where the door is above the sidewalk, the walk needs a landing, not a sloped paver run into the threshold. Riser height stays consistent, and the nosing is a full unit so it does not chip. A flush sleeve for a low path light can go in while the base is open, so a later fixture does not mean cutting the finished field.
