Cleaning Fertilizer Burn Stains on Pinellas Pavers
Pinellas lawns get fertilized on a calendar, often with iron packages, and a lot of systems run reclaimed water. Both leave rust-orange and brown burn marks on concrete pavers, especially along the first rows next to the sod. Pressure-washing on high and walking away usually drives the stain deeper and excavates the joint sand. PaverForge Hardscapes cleans those marks as a hardscape task, not a yard-wash add-on.
What the stain actually is
Iron from fertilizer and from reclaimed water oxidizes on the paver face. Fresh overspray can often be reduced with a targeted cleaner and a soft wash. Older burn that sat through a summer may need more than one pass and still leave a faint shadow on very light tan units. We test a spare or an inconspicuous course first so we are not guessing on a whole driveway.
Soft-wash chemistry before a high-PSI blast.
Keep the wand moving. Dwell does the work, not a single hot spot.
Re-sand joints the same day once the field is dry enough.
Reset or shield the nearest irrigation heads so the stain does not reprint next week.
Prevention after the clean
A penetrating sealer can slow the next round of staining. It will not make the pavers immune to a weekly iron feed dumped on the border. We talk through head adjustment and a simple rinse habit with the irrigation contractor or the homeowner.
