Irrigation Stains and Paver Cleaning in St. Pete Beach

A lot of St. Pete Beach and south Pinellas paver calls start as a stain question. The field looks dirty. The joints are green. Irrigation has left rust fans on the units nearest the heads. Cleaning is sometimes the right first step. Sometimes it is a waste of money on a field that is already rocking.

PaverForge Hardscapes will tell you which one you have. Call 727-490-9798.

What well water and irrigation actually do

Pinellas irrigation is often well water. Iron and minerals leave orange and white scale on the face of the paver. Heads that overspray a walk every night keep the joints wet, which grows algae and lets weeds start. None of that means the base failed. It also does not mean a pressure wash will make a settled field look new.

  • Surface stains and algae can often be cleaned

  • Rust from well water may lighten but will not always vanish

  • Weeds in open joints come back if the sand is gone

  • A field that rocks or ponds needs a re-level, not another wash

When we clean vs when we re-level

If the stones sit tight, drain, and only look tired, we talk cleaning and fresh joint sand. If the field has low spots, rocking units, or washout at the edge, cleaning first just makes a failed install shiny. Re-leveling puts the stones back on a compacted base, then we sand the joints so they lock.

Sealing is a separate decision. We do not seal a dirty or wet field, and we do not treat sealer as a fix for drainage. Read the maintenance guide on this blog if you are deciding whether to seal after the clean.

How to start

Call PaverForge Hardscapes at 727-490-9798 or use the book-online page. Send a few photos in daylight: the stained area, the nearest irrigation head, and any low spots that hold water. We typically reply the same business day.
