Oak Tannin and Leaf-Stain Cleaning on Pinellas Pavers
Pinellas live oaks and laurel oaks drop tannin that turns a new tan field blotchy in one wet season. That stain is not efflorescence and it is not irrigation rust. Hitting it with a hot pressure wand usually opens joints and etch the face before the color evens out.
What we will and will not blast
We start with a soft wash, dwell time, and a rinse that does not excavate polymeric or joint stone. If the field was sealed, we test a corner so we do not strip a topical sealer in stripes. After cleaning, joints that lost sand get a re-sand and a compaction pass before anyone drives on the drive.
Prevention is mostly canopy and rinse habit: blow off heavy leaf piles before a multi-day rain, and do not let irrigation overspray sit on a sealed field in full sun.
Soft-wash before pressure
Protect joint sand and polymeric haze-prone fields
Re-sand after cleaning if joints opened
Sealer test corner on previously sealed jobs
