Rebuilding a Driveway Throat After a City Sidewalk Grind-and-Raise
A city sidewalk grind or lift-and-replace changes the elevation at the property line by a half inch to two inches. The private paver throat that used to meet that walk now lips, holds water, or trips. PaverForge Hardscapes rebuilds the throat only — not the whole driveway — so the field keys into the new public grade.
What the city changed and what we own
The apron and sidewalk are public. The throat behind the right-of-way line is private. We photograph the joint before we lift units, confirm the new sidewalk elevation with a laser, and rebuild enough courses that the pitch still sheds toward the street instead of back to the garage.
How the rebuild is cut
We lift a clean band, restock bedding, compact the base if the grind loosened it, and re-lay the same units plus a matching soldier course. If the raise is large, we add a short transition course rather than forcing a trip edge. Polymeric sand is packed after the field is locked and dry.

If your Pinellas driveway now lips at a freshly ground sidewalk, call PaverForge Hardscapes at 727-490-9798. Bring the city work notice if you have it so we can plan around any remaining inspections.
