Reclaimed-Water Irrigation Staining on Pinellas Pavers
Pinellas reclaimed-water systems run through purple pipe and often carry more iron, organics, and dissolved solids than potable. Heads that overspray a new driveway leave orange fans and dark rings that homeowners mistake for rusted furniture or fertilizer burn.
How to tell irrigation stain from something else
Reclaimed-water marks follow the spray pattern. They are darkest under the first-row heads and fade toward the house. Oil is black and soaks a single unit. Oak tannin sits under the drip line. Fertilizer rust often has a pellet outline. We wet a test area and look before we commit to a cleaner.
Soft-wash and an iron or organic cleaner first. Pressure-wash alone etches the face and leaves the stain.
Heads get adjusted or swapped to a low-angle nozzle so the next cycle does not reprint the fan.
Units stained through the body come out and get replaced from attic stock, not painted.
Do not seal over active overspray
A topical sealer locks the mineral film in place and can make the next stain harder to lift. Fix the irrigation, clean, let the field dry, then decide on a sealer. On light coastal units we often skip sealer and pick a blend that hides future overspray.
