Repairing a Stump-Grind Void Under an Existing Paver Driveway
A stump grind next to a driveway looks tidy until the chips compost and the field drops. The void is rarely a neat circle. Roots under the base leave a soft pocket that shows up as a dish after the first wet month. PaverForge Hardscapes treats that as an undercut, not a bag of sand dumped in the hole.
We lift pavers past the obvious dip so the patch lands on firm base. Chips and organic soil come out. Geotextile goes down, then crushed-concrete in lifts, proof-rolled. If the tree was a live oak, we stop short of the flare we are not authorized to cut and explain the remaining risk.
Relayed units are blended from a repair pallet. A mid-field soldier band can hide a color step when the original product is discontinued. Joints are re-sanded across the patch and one course beyond so the repair does not outline itself.
Stump-void repair sequence
Lift units and store them in original pattern groups.
Excavate chips and soft soil to firm material.
Compact new base in lifts; do not bridge the hole with bedding sand.
Relay, compact the surface, and sand joints after a dry window.
Pinellas lots lose trees after storms every year. If the drive has already dished, send a photo. Call 727-490-9798.
