16th Avenue South St. Pete Paver Drives

16th Avenue South runs through south St. Petersburg between the Bartlett Park and Childs Park side of the city and the lower grid toward Lake Maggiore. Lots sit low, summer storms pond at the curb, and many houses still park off an alley as well as the street.

Apron, alley, and the low spot

The street apron has to meet the city sidewalk without a lip that holds water. On alley-loaded houses the back pad is the daily driver, so that field gets the same compacted base as the front drive, not a thin overlay on the old alley concrete.

Where the yard holds water after a storm, the paver pitch goes to the alley or the street, not back at the stem wall. A channel drain is only added at a slider or garage if the grade cannot do the job alone. Edge restraint is metal or a concrete haunch, pinned so the field does not creep into the swale.

PaverForge Hardscapes repairs and rebuilds these south St. Pete drives. Call 727-490-9798 or email PaverForge@gmail.com to line up the apron and the alley pad in one visit.

Flush Seawall Flag-Staff Socket Plates

A flush flag-staff socket plate sets a removable courtesy-flag socket in the seawall cap or dock-edge pavers so the opening is not a toe catch when the staff is out.
