20th Avenue South St. Pete Paver Drives

20th Avenue South sits between the 19th Avenue South drives and the 21st Avenue South walks already on this blog. The street crosses both the residential grid west of 34th and the tighter lots closer to the south side commercial strips. Parking pads are short, and alley access is uncommon, so the street apron does most of the work.

Apron and sidewalk joint

The failure we see most is a sunken apron against a sidewalk that the city has already lifted. The paver field has to meet today's sidewalk, not the elevation stamped into the old concrete. We saw-cut a clean line, rebuild the base through the right-of-way portion the permit allows, and keep a isolation joint at the garage so the house slab and the drive can move separately.

Shade from street oaks holds moisture in the joints. Polymeric sand is swept only after the field is dry, and the edge restraint is spiked into the compacted base rather than the bedding sand.

A shot from the street, one of the garage threshold, and one of any standing water are enough. Call 727-490-9798 or use the book-online page. PaverForge Hardscapes works 20th Avenue South from the St. Pete Beach shop.

Flush Seawall Flag-Staff Socket Plates

A flush flag-staff socket plate sets a removable courtesy-flag socket in the seawall cap or dock-edge pavers so the opening is not a toe catch when the staff is out.
