22nd Avenue North Corridor Driveways in St. Petersburg

22nd Avenue North cuts across mid-St. Petersburg from the bay side toward the western neighborhoods. The corridor mixes bungalow drives, alley-loaded pads, and commercial-adjacent aprons that take delivery vans. One detail does not cover all three.

PaverForge Hardscapes prices the lot in front of us. A quiet residential apron off 22nd is not the same job as a shop that sees box trucks before 8 a.m.

Residential lots on the corridor

Many of these drives are short and steep. The garage sat where the slab sat in 1954. If we flatten the field to make the pavers look pretty, water goes under the door. We keep the slope, add a threshold detail or a trench drain when the pitch demands it, and lock the first rows so they do not creep toward the street.

Commercial-adjacent aprons

Where 22nd picks up small retail and shop bays, the paver field has to take turning loads. That means a deeper crushed-stone section, 80mm units on the drive, and an edge that does not blow out when a truck jumps the curb. We will not sell a patio paver on a bay that sees freight.

  • 80mm pavers on any field that takes vehicles.

  • Geotextile over sugar sand before the first lift of base.

  • A soldier course or Belgian-block edge that can be repaired in a day if a truck clips it.

  • Utility lids set in the field, not buried under a random cut.

Flush Seawall Flag-Staff Socket Plates

A flush flag-staff socket plate sets a removable courtesy-flag socket in the seawall cap or dock-edge pavers so the opening is not a toe catch when the staff is out.
