29th Avenue North St. Pete Courtyards

29th Avenue North courtyards are small. The house, a screen panel, and an alley fence often leave one rectangle for a table. That rectangle is also the low spot if the original concrete was pitched toward the slab or if a downspout still dumps in the corner.

Drainage before furniture

We shoot the courtyard against the finished floor and the alley swale. If the only legal outfall is the side yard, the field gets a consistent fall that way, with a channel or a flush drain at the low corner so chair legs are not sitting in a puddle. A patio that looks flat in a photo will hold water after a 2-inch rain.

  • Compacted aggregate under the whole field, including the furniture zone

  • Isolation from the house slab so the patio can move without cracking the stem wall

  • Flush drain or channel at the true low point, not a decorative grate in the middle

  • Edge that can take a screen-track or planter without walking

What we will not hide

A courtyard that already holds water needs the grade fixed, not a thicker paver. We will say so before we order material. Color is the last decision, after pitch and base.

Flush Seawall Flag-Staff Socket Plates

A flush flag-staff socket plate sets a removable courtesy-flag socket in the seawall cap or dock-edge pavers so the opening is not a toe catch when the staff is out.
