3rd Avenue North Storefront Walks in Downtown St. Petersburg
3rd Avenue North runs through downtown St. Petersburg's storefront and loft blocks, where the public sidewalk, a private courtyard, and a delivery throat often share one lot line. A residential driveway pattern dropped onto that frontage looks wrong by lunch and fails at the city apron the first time a box truck turns in.
PaverForge Hardscapes builds 3rd Avenue North walks as commercial-adjacent work. We isolate the city apron with a keyed joint instead of running the private field into the right-of-way, keep a construction lane for the tenant, and use a tighter joint and a slip-resistant texture where the public actually walks.
Downtown constraints we plan for
Meter bags, loading windows, and neighbor storefronts that cannot lose the sidewalk for a week.
Existing brick or scored concrete that has to meet a new paver field without a trip lip.
Delivery vans that need a throat wide enough to turn without climbing the soldier course.
Courtyard drains that must stay off the building face and off the public walk.
How the joint at the city walk is built
The private field stops short of the ROW. We set a soldier or sailor course on pinned restraint, match grade to the existing sidewalk within a hairline, and leave the city concrete alone unless the owner has a separate apron permit. Cuts are wet-sawn on mats so slurry never reaches the gutter.
