Ozona lots on 460th Street North are older and tighter than the newer Palm Harbor sections. A walk from the drive to the side door often has less than four feet between the house and the fence, and the drive itself may still be shell.

Width and the shell transition

We size the walk for a person with a trash cart, not for a catalog photo. Where the shell drive meets the paver, the restraint is a soldier course set on a concrete haunch so the shell does not eat the edge. Pitch runs to the yard or a channel drain, never back at the stucco.

Salt air and the base

Ozona is close enough to St. Joseph Sound that metal edge restraint rusts and polymeric sand crusts white. We use a restraint we can reset, compact the base in lifts, and leave a clean joint that can be re-sanded after a wet season. Lighting conduit is sleeved now if the owner wants path lights later.
