66th Street North Corridor Driveways in St. Petersburg and Kenneth City

66th Street North runs from the Tyrone blocks through Kenneth City toward Park Boulevard. Lots on this corridor are short to the curb, share driveways with neighbors, and sit next to a four-lane that does not forgive a dump truck parked in the travel lane. PaverForge Hardscapes plans those jobs from St. Pete Beach so the excavation, base, and finish fit the street instead of fighting it.

What the corridor does to a paver driveway

Many 66th Street lots were poured as a thin concrete slab that cracked at the garage lip and at the city apron. Replacing that slab with pavers only works if the throat is wide enough for two cars without hanging a tire over the neighbor's irrigation. We measure the existing opening, the right-of-way strip, and the garage slab elevation before we bid the cut.

  • Stage materials on the side street or in the rear when 66th Street peak traffic is too tight for a pallet drop.

  • Keep the city apron and sidewalk pitch, then start the new paver field behind the right-of-way joint.

  • Use a compacted crushed-stone base and a real edge restraint so the short field does not creep toward the gutter.

Drainage on a short Pinellas frontage

These lots rarely have room for a rain garden. Water has to leave the garage threshold, cross the field, and hit the gutter without ponding at the sidewalk. We strike the bed at about two percent, add a channel drain only when the garage sits below the street, and keep irrigation heads out of the wheel path.

If you are on 66th Street North in St. Petersburg or Kenneth City and the slab is heaving or the joints have washed out, call PaverForge Hardscapes at 727-490-9798 or email PaverForge@gmail.com. We walk the lot, photograph the apron, and price a compacted-base paver driveway that can be built without blocking the corridor all day.

Flush Seawall Flag-Staff Socket Plates

A flush flag-staff socket plate sets a removable courtesy-flag socket in the seawall cap or dock-edge pavers so the opening is not a toe catch when the staff is out.
