9th Street North and MLK Street Driveways in St. Petersburg

9th Street North and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street cut north through older St. Petersburg grid blocks. Frontages are narrow, alleys still carry some of the service traffic, and a few parcels sit next to storefronts that need the sidewalk open by mid-morning. PaverForge Hardscapes treats these streets as working lots, not empty suburban pads.

Grid-lot layout before the first cut

A typical parcel here has a one-car throat that later owners tried to widen over the parkway. That extra concrete often sits on topsoil. We pull the failed wings, find the property pins, and set the new paver field so it does not encroach on the sidewalk or the neighbor's meter.

  • Confirm pins and the city sidewalk joint before excavation.

  • Rebuild the throat with a compacted base instead of a thin overlay on the old slab.

  • Keep a soldier-course or sailor-course border so the short field reads finished from the street.

Staging on a live St. Pete grid street

Pallets do not live in the travel lane on 9th or MLK. We drop material in a marked window, move the saw to the rear or the driveway itself, and leave a walking path on the sidewalk. If the lot has an alley, we use it for spoil so the front stays clean for neighbors.

PaverForge Hardscapes is based in St. Pete Beach and works these midtown-north corridors regularly. Call 727-490-9798 or email PaverForge@gmail.com with lot photos if the existing drive is settling or you want a paver field that matches the house instead of the cracked slab that is there now.

Flush Seawall Flag-Staff Socket Plates

A flush flag-staff socket plate sets a removable courtesy-flag socket in the seawall cap or dock-edge pavers so the opening is not a toe catch when the staff is out.
