Basketball Half-Courts and Sport-Court Pavers in Pinellas
Putting greens and bocce courts are one kind of play surface. A basketball half-court is another. Kids and adults stop hard, slide into the key, and lean on the goal post. A patio recipe will dish in the paint and spit pavers at the sideline.
PaverForge Hardscapes will build a court when the lot can take the plane and the load. We will not paint lines on a soft patio and call it a court.
The plane matters more than the color
A driveway can have a visible slope. A court cannot. We hold a tighter flatness tolerance across the key and the free-throw line so a ball does not wander toward the garage. That usually means more base, more checking with a straightedge, and fewer cute pattern changes in the playing surface.
What goes under and around the court
A thicker crushed-stone section than a patio, compacted in lifts.
80mm interlocking pavers on the playing surface, not 60mm patio units.
A locked edge at every sideline, including the side that meets turf.
A separate pad and sleeve for the goal post so the post is not leaning on the field.
Lines, shade, and neighbors
Painted lines need a sealer conversation. Some Pinellas lots do better with contrasting paver inlays for the key and the three-point line so you are not repainting every spring. Shade sails and pergolas belong on their own footings, not on a post dropped through a cut in the court.
If the court sits on a side lot, we talk about ball-containment fencing and where missed shots go. A court that feeds basketballs into the neighbor's lanai is not a finished job.
