Bay Esplanade Clearwater Beach Paver Approaches
Bay Esplanade is a Clearwater Beach residential street near the north end of the island. Approaches are short, sand is loose, and salt air works on any metal edge that is not specified for the coast.
A mainland plastic edge fails here in one storm season. The field walks, joints open, and the apron drops at the gutter.
Island approach spec
We excavate the failed sand bed, place geotextile, and compact crushed base in lifts. A concrete ribbon or salt-rated edge restraint holds the field. Pavers are set to the sidewalk so storm water does not pond at the garage.
We keep a setback from dune vegetation and do not haul fill onto the beach side of the lot. If the city sidewalk is already raised, the private apron matches that elevation instead of bridging over it.
