Big Bayou and Little Bayou Hardscapes in South St. Petersburg

Big Bayou and Little Bayou sit on the south side of St. Petersburg, between Pinellas Point, Lakewood, and the bay. The houses look finished. The soil under the drive is still Florida sand with a high water table, and a lot of the walks run toward a seawall or a low backyard that holds water after a summer storm.

What these bayou lots actually need

Most calls here are short two-car drives, walks that pond at the stoop, and seawall-adjacent patios that were set on a thin sand bed. A color sample will not fix that. We size the base for the load, pitch the surface away from the house, and restrain the edge so the field does not creep after the wet season.

If the existing stones are still sound, we re-level instead of tearing the field out. If the base was a thin sand bed, we excavate and rebuild. That decision happens on site, not from a photo.
