Bonita Bayou Paver Driveways in South St. Petersburg
Bonita Bayou is a south St. Petersburg canal pocket near Big Bayou, with short drives, boat parking, and lots that sit close to the flood line. PaverForge Hardscapes installs and re-levels paver drives, dock approaches, and side-yard pads here. Call 727-490-9798 or start a visit at https://www.paverforge.com/book-online.
Flood line and base
King tides and summer cloudbursts push water up the driveway throat. A sand-set field still works if the base is open enough to drain and the edge restraint is pinned so a surge does not peel the border. We undercut organic pockets, place geotextile on sugar sand, and compact crushed concrete in lifts before bedding sand goes down.
We do not set the finished paver grade below the seawall cap or the neighbor's existing field in a way that traps water against the garage. Where the city apron is heaved, the private field stops at the right-of-way and the apron stays a separate concrete repair.
Boat and trailer use
Many Bonita Bayou drives double as a rinse lane. We keep a one-way pitch to a trapped drain or a side-yard pop-up, and we use 80 mm pavers so a trailer tongue jack does not punch a single unit. Hose bibs and cleanouts get a grade ring so the lid sits flush instead of becoming a trip edge.
Salt air eats light-gauge metal edge. On open canal lots we use a heavier restraint or a concealed concrete haunch, then a soldier course that can be lifted later if a dock electrician needs a sleeve.
Joints after a tide
Polymeric sand can wash at the first course after a high tide if the edge was never re-pinned. A repair visit lifts the loose border, re-compacts the base, and re-sands only the failed joints rather than sealing a wet field. Full project scope is listed at https://www.paverforge.com/services.
