Carriage Hills Driveways in Largo
Carriage Hills sits on the Largo side of the Seminole Boulevard corridor, a short haul from our St. Pete Beach shop. Most lots are mid-century ranch parcels with a single-car or widened two-car drive, a shallow swale at the street, and a garage slab that has settled a little since the house was built.
What fails first on these drives
The usual failure is not the paver face. It is the base under the throat, where daily car tires meet a thin sand bed, and at the city apron, where the private field meets a concrete sidewalk or curb cut. Summer rain ponds there, polymeric sand washes out, and the first course rocks. Live oaks along the side yard heave the same edge a few years later.
How we rebuild a Carriage Hills drive
We saw-cut or lift only the failed section when the rest of the field is still locked. Under the tires we excavate to a stable subgrade, place a geotextile if the pocket is soft, and compact crushed concrete in lifts before a thin bedding layer. Edge restraint is pinned, not buried in mulch. The apron is matched to the existing sidewalk elevation so the car does not slap a lip.
If the whole drive has waves, a full re-lay is cleaner than a patchwork of repair bands. We can often reuse the existing units if they are not spalled, and blend a soldier course from a repair pallet so the throat does not read as a different job.
How to start
Call PaverForge Hardscapes at 727-490-9798 or use the book-online page. Photos of the garage threshold, the street apron, and any low spot after rain are enough for a same-day reply. We also install and re-level pavers in Seminole, Largo, and Pinellas Park from the same crew.
