Del Oro Shores Bayou-Lot Pavers in South St. Petersburg
Del Oro Shores is a south St. Petersburg pocket along the bayous west of Lakewood. A lot here is not a standard inland driveway. The back of the house often sits closer to a seawall or bulkhead than to the street, and the patio is the space that floods first when a king tide stacks on a summer rain. PaverForge Hardscapes builds those fields so they drain and so they can be lifted later without tearing the wall cap.
Isolation at the seawall
A paver field that is mortared to a seawall cap will crack when the wall moves. We stop the interlocking field short of the cap, set a soldier course on a haunch, and leave a serviceable joint. If the owner wants a cap overlay, that is a separate masonry detail, not an extension of the patio sand bed.
Pitch toward a drain, not toward the neighbor
Canal lots are tight. The easy mistake is to pitch the patio at the side yard and call it done. That dumps stormwater onto the adjacent lot and starts a dispute. We pick a catch basin, a channel drain at the slider, or a controlled sheet to the owner's own bulkhead scupper. Two percent is the target on the field. Heel-proof slot drains belong at the sliders if the living room is at grade.
Base that survives wet sand
Geotextile over organic or muck pockets after the undercut.
Dense-graded crushed concrete in lifts, proof-rolled before bedding sand.
No leftover concrete sand in the bed. ASTM C33 bedding sand only.
Plastic edge restraint pinned into the base, not into the sand, and checked after the first king-tide week.
