Dunedin Beach Paver Driveways on the Causeway Island
Dunedin Beach is the residential strip on the causeway island between mainland Dunedin and Honeymoon Island Park. Lots are narrow, the sand is loose, and a west wind puts salt on every joint. It is not the same job as Caladesi Cove or the Edgewater Drive marina basin.
What the island does to a driveway
Sugar sand will not hold a thin base. PaverForge Hardscapes undercuts organic pockets, lays a separation fabric, and builds the crushed-base in lifts before bedding sand goes down. Edge restraint is pinned, not just spiked, because wind-driven rain will wash an unpinned border.
King-tide splash and storm surge leave a film on low aprons. We pitch the field to the street or a trapped drain, keep polymeric sand out of the city gutter, and leave a clean joint at the apron so a later city grind does not crack the private field.
Gulf-lot details we do not skip
Meter boxes, cleanouts, and irrigation backflow preventers get grade rings so they sit flush and can still be opened. If a seawall cap or dune-side walk meets the drive, the isolation joint is set before the pavers, not cut in later. Screen-cage thresholds get a kick plate so the door does not drag on the field.
PaverForge Hardscapes builds these from St. Pete Beach and covers Dunedin Beach, Dunedin, and the Honeymoon Island approach. Call 727-490-9798 or book online with photos of the apron, the sand, and the lowest spot after a rain.
