Eden Isle Hardscapes on Northeast St. Pete Canals
Eden Isle is a canal pocket in northeast St. Petersburg, between Shore Acres and the Weedon Island side of the bayou. Lots are short, docks sit close to the patio, and king tides push the water table up under the yard.
Water table and the first course
A base that looks dry at noon can be soft at a high tide. We proof-roll before we set pavers and we do not pave over muck. Where the native soil pumps, we undercut and replace with compacted aggregate so the field does not dish toward the seawall.
Pitch still has to leave the house. On a canal lot that often means a short run to a pop-up or a slot drain, not a sheet flow over the cap. Seawall caps and dock walks stay isolated from the patio field so movement in one does not crack the other.
Salt air and staging
Metal edge restraint rusts faster here than on a mainland Largo lot. We specify a restraint that can live in salt air and we pin corners so the first course does not walk. Staging uses the driveway, not the neighbor seawall easement.
