First Avenue North Storefront Walks in Downtown St. Petersburg
First Avenue North runs the north side of downtown St. Petersburg: galleries, offices, and stoops that sit a step above the public walk. The south-side warehouse-arts blocks already have their own write-up. This one is the north curb, where a rebuilt landing has to meet both the historic stoop and the city sidewalk.
Stoops, landings, and the public walk
We do not bury the original threshold. The new paver landing hits the door slab with a sealed isolation joint, then steps or ramps to the city walk at a slope the door can live with. If the suite needs an accessible route, the landing gets a 1:12 run and a landing at the door, not a steep wedge of pavers.
Match existing brick or concrete color with a sample panel on the stoop.
Keep scuppers and downspouts open; do not build a dam at the facade.
Delivery pads in the alley get 80mm units and a thicker base.
Tree pits along the curb stay free of bedding sand that will wash into the pit.
Permits and neighbors
Downtown work often needs a right-of-way permit and a photo packet for the inspector. We shoot base depth, geotextile, and edge restraint as we go so you are not hunting for proof later. Night or early staging is used only when the block’s noise rules allow it.
PaverForge Hardscapes builds First Avenue North landings from the same St. Pete Beach shop that already works Beach Drive and First Avenue South. Call 727-490-9798 or send elevation photos of the stoop and the walk.
