Flush Seawall Range-Light Backing Plates
A private range light, or a pair of them, is only useful if the two boards stay on the line the owner set. On a Pinellas seawall the cap moves, the pavers settle, and a light screwed straight into the coping drifts after a season of boat wake.
What the backing plate does
We set a flush plate in the cap or in the paver field at the seawall so the light board has a stable mount and the surrounding stone can be lifted without disturbing the alignment bolts. The plate sits flush with the walking surface. It is not a cleat and it is not a trip edge. Drainage around the plate is pitched off the cap so standing water does not sit in the bolt pockets.
What we do not claim
A backing plate does not replace a permitted private aid, a survey, or a marine electrician. We build the hardscape seat: isolation from the paver field, a resettable border, and access so the board can be re-aimed. If the cap itself is spalled, the plate waits until the concrete is sound.
