Highland Avenue Dunedin Paver Approaches

Highland Avenue sits in Dunedin, where sugar sand and older concrete aprons settle under daily traffic. It is not the same job as Broadway courtyards or the causeway approach.

Failed aprons show a dip at the gutter and a rocking joint after rain. A thin sand bed will not hold a vehicle once the summer storms start.

What we rebuild

Failed aprons come out. We compact base in lifts over geotextile where the sand is loose, then set pavers to the sidewalk grade. A soldier course at the gutter can be reset if the city later adjusts the curb.

Shade from oaks holds moisture, so we do not seal the same day as install. Irrigation heads at the edge get a flush collar so they are not buried in the new field.

Flush Seawall Flag-Staff Socket Plates

A flush flag-staff socket plate sets a removable courtesy-flag socket in the seawall cap or dock-edge pavers so the opening is not a toe catch when the staff is out.
