Highlander Park-Adjacent Driveways in Clearwater
Highlander Park sits off Nursery Road in east Clearwater, with ranch homes and townhouse clusters that drain toward the park swale. PaverForge Hardscapes builds paver driveways and front walks on these streets when the original concrete has cracked at the garage or the yard holds water after a summer storm.
Park-side drainage comes first
Lots that face the park often sit a few inches above the swale. That is useful if the driveway pitches the right way and a problem if the field was laid dead-flat. We shoot grades from the garage lip to the sidewalk and from the sidewalk to the swale, then hold a two-percent fall so the park-side sod does not become a pond.
HOA work windows on these streets are short. Pallets drop on mats, not on the park path, and we keep the boom off the trail-side curb. If the association wants a sample panel before the field goes down, we mock up a 4x4 next to the existing walk so color and joint width are approved in daylight.
Check irrigation heads along the park strip before excavation so laterals are not cut.
Use a pinned concrete or metal edge on the park side; plastic edge walks in wet sand.
Keep polymeric sand off the park turf and rinse haze before the next mow day.
Photograph pre-existing sidewalk chips so the city is not billed for old damage.
When a walk and a drive should be one field
Many Highlander Park fronts have a narrow concrete walk glued to a separate drive. Joining them as one paver field with a soldier band at the garage looks cleaner and lets water move in one direction. We still isolate the house slab. For a site visit, call 727-490-9798.
