Jordan Park and Melrose-Mercy Adjacent Hardscapes

Jordan Park and the Melrose-Mercy streets just west of it are compact, older St. Petersburg blocks. Drives are short. Front walks hit the public sidewalk in a few steps. Many houses still have a poured stoop that has settled away from the threshold. There is rarely a place to hide a dumpster.

This is not a waterfront estate spec. It is small, useful hardscape: a parking pad that does not pond, a walk that does not trip, a stoop that meets the door again.

Typical Jordan Park / Melrose-Mercy scope

  • Front walk replacement from stoop to public sidewalk, with a clean joint at the right-of-way.

  • Single-car parking pad on a side yard that used to be dirt or broken slab.

  • Stoop and landing rebuild so the door sweep clears and water falls away from the slab.

  • Trash or utility pad that sits off the walk and can take a rolling bin.

Staging on a short street

We haul out old concrete the same day when we can, set pallets on the owner's pad, and use access mats if the only path is across grass. Neighbors are close. We cut and compact during weekday hours and keep the saw on the lot, not in the street.

A few photos of the stoop, the walk, and the parking strip are enough to start. PaverForge Hardscapes, (727) 490-9798, paverforge.com. We will say if the job is a half-day landing or a full pad excavation before you clear the calendar.

Flush Seawall Flag-Staff Socket Plates

A flush flag-staff socket plate sets a removable courtesy-flag socket in the seawall cap or dock-edge pavers so the opening is not a toe catch when the staff is out.
