Lake Maggiore and Bahama Shores Pavers in South St. Pete
Lake Maggiore and Bahama Shores sit just north of Pinellas Point — lake lots, older oaks, and streets that still take a real afternoon storm. PaverForge Hardscapes works both neighborhoods from St. Pete Beach because the soil and the tree canopy behave like the rest of south St. Petersburg, not like a mainland subdivision with a deep dry base.
Oaks, roots, and a high water table
The usual failure here is not faded color. It is a driveway that heaves along the oak line and a walk that ponds after a two-hour rain. Roots lift the field. Fine sand under a thin base turns to soup. If you only grind the high pavers and put them back on the same soup, the hump returns.
Root-aware base along the lake oaks — we do not pretend a 2-inch scrape will outlast the tree.
Pitch away from the house and toward a legal low point, not into the neighbor’s slab.
A locked edge so lake-road traffic does not walk the first course into the gutter.
Honest talk when a section under a large oak should stay a flexible field instead of a rigid slab.
Bahama Shores courts and lake-side walks
Bahama Shores lots are often tighter and more waterfront-minded. A small court off the lanai is common. We treat that court like a pool deck: cooler stone where people sit, a clean joint at the screen, and enough fall that splash and irrigation do not sit overnight.
Lake Maggiore streets see more through-traffic and more street-tree conflict. Driveway aprons have to meet the city approach without a lip that catches a mower or a low car. That apron is part of the driveway quote, not a leftover.
Repair versus a new field
If the pavers are still a current color and the failure is a settled run or a root hump, we re-level or rebuild the bad bay and blend. If the field was laid on dirt with no restraint, a full rebuild is cheaper than three years of callbacks. We say which one you are looking at before anyone pulls a saw.
