Lake Tarpon Village and East Lake Parkway Driveways
Lake Tarpon Village and the East Lake Parkway corridor sit on sugar sand, irrigation-heavy HOA lots, and streets that dump stormwater toward the lake. A pretty paver face does not survive that without a real section. PaverForge Hardscapes builds driveways here the same way we build them on St. Pete Beach: locate utilities, undercut organic soil, compact in lifts, and pitch the field so water leaves the house and the garage door.
What these lots actually do to a driveway
East Lake Parkway lots look wide from the street and then pinch at the garage. Many have a crown that was poured with the original slab and a swale that the HOA still expects to function after the pavers go in. If the new field is built flat, the first summer storm puts a sheet of water against the overhead door and a stain line on the soldier course.
Sugar sand under the old slab is not a base. It has to come out or get locked with geotextile and dense-graded aggregate.
Irrigation sleeves and decoder wires almost always cross the apron. We locate them before the first bucket.
HOA packets here want a color board, a pattern, and a note on where construction traffic will stage. We include that with the quote.
Section that holds on lake-side sand
We excavate to a depth that matches the load: passenger cars on a 60 mm walk, vehicles on an 80 mm driveway. Base goes in lifts and gets plate-compacted until the plate walks instead of punching. Bedding is washed concrete sand struck to a consistent thickness, not leftover mason sand from a block pile. Edges get a restraint that is spiked into compacted base, not into the sand bed.
On lots that fall toward the lake we keep a two-percent pitch off the house and a shallow channel or catch at the low corner so the field does not become a holding pond. We do not fake drainage with a sealer.
How to start
Send a photo of the existing drive and the garage threshold. We will tell you whether the slab can come out in one piece, where the dumpster sits, and what the HOA is likely to ask for. Call PaverForge Hardscapes at 727-490-9798 or book from paverforge.com.
