Isolation Joints When a New Pool Cuts an Existing Paver Deck

A new pool on an existing Pinellas paver deck is not a saw-cut and a hope. The beam moves. The house slab does not. The cage posts have their own job.

PaverForge Hardscapes details isolation joints so the remaining field can be re-laid instead of fighting the new structure. Call 727-490-9798.

What we actually detail

  • A bond-breaker at the pool beam and house slab so the field is not glued to two different movements

  • Pitch away from sliders after the new coping elevation is locked

  • A soldier or sailor course that can be lifted when the pool builder needs access again

If the existing units are sound we salvage them. If the old base was a thin sand bed we rebuild the remaining field to driveway or deck load, not a patch.

How to start

Send the pool plan, a photo of the existing deck, and the slider threshold height. We coordinate the cut window with the pool crew before anyone saws.
