Rebuilding a Patio After a Florida-Room Addition Changed the Slab Edge
A Florida-room or sunroom addition often leaves the old patio sitting two inches low against a new slab edge. Water then sits at the stucco and the first row of pavers turns into a gutter. PaverForge Hardscapes rebuilds that field to the new elevation.
Match the new slab, isolate the old
We do not mortar the first row to the addition slab. A bond-breaker and a tight isolation joint keep the house and the patio from fighting each other when the addition settles a little more than the yard.
If the existing patio can be lifted and reset, we reuse the units and only add a border or a band where the geometry changed. If the pitch is wrong across the whole field, we excavate and rebuild rather than stacking sand under the low side.
Doors and screens
Impact sliders and screen-room doors need a clear swing and a threshold that does not scoop rain inside. We set finished grade below the weather seal and pitch away from the wall at about two percent.
