Rio Vista Paver Yards in South St. Petersburg

Rio Vista sits south of downtown St. Petersburg, between Lake Maggiore and the Big Bayou side streets off 22nd Avenue South. Lots are modest, oaks are old, and summer rain sits in the low swales if the yard was never graded.

What the yard actually needs

A sand-only bed will rut here after the first wet season. We excavate to a depth that leaves compacted aggregate under the field, then screed a thin bedding layer. Pitch runs away from the slab and toward a legal outfall, not into a neighbor swale or the garage threshold.

The first course gets a rigid edge so tires do not walk the border into the grass. Where a city sidewalk meets the apron, we match the existing approach instead of stacking pavers above the walk.

Roots, shade, and color

Live oaks heave thin bases. If a root is in the drive line we either shift the field or cut and barrier only where the owner and the tree can both live with it. Shade keeps pavers damp longer, so joint sand has to lock before the next storm or it washes toward the street.

Flush Seawall Flag-Staff Socket Plates

A flush flag-staff socket plate sets a removable courtesy-flag socket in the seawall cap or dock-edge pavers so the opening is not a toe catch when the staff is out.
