Smacks Bayou Neighborhood Driveways in St. Petersburg
Smacks Bayou is a northeast St. Petersburg waterfront pocket near Riviera Bay and the Weedon Island side of the city. Lots face the bayou, drives are short, and the interesting work is usually the apron, the side yard, and the walk to the dock.
PaverForge Hardscapes installs and re-levels pavers in Smacks Bayou from our St. Pete Beach shop. Call 727-490-9798 or book at paverforge.com/book-online.
Salt air and short drives
Plastic edge restraint that was fine inland gets brittle here. We use a restraint and spike pattern that stays put in salt air, and we pin corners where trailer tires and golf carts shove the border. A short drive still needs a driveway section, not a patio section, if a truck uses it.
Water stays out of the bayou path
Pitch runs to a lawn, a swale, or a drain that already has an outfall. We do not sheet rinse water or driveway wash over a seawall cap into the bayou. Dock walks get a flush transition at the cap so the last course is not a trip edge at night.
Mangrove and seawall setbacks are the owner's and the survey's problem to confirm before we cut. We lay out from the pins and the cap you already have, and we stop where the setback says to stop.
Re-level after a king tide
Joint sand washes and the field rocks when the base was thin and the tide sat on it. Sound units can be reset after the base is rebuilt. We do not pour polymeric sand over a hollow field and call it repaired.
Send the street frontage, the dock walk, and any low pavers. That is the Smacks Bayou walkthrough packet.
