Tiki Gardens and Indian Shores Nature Preserve-Adjacent Hardscapes
Indian Shores is a thin barrier island. The nature preserve and the old Tiki Gardens site sit on the Intracoastal side, where lots back to mangrove fringe, a park edge, or a seawall instead of a second street for staging.
Those lots still need driveways, pool decks, and outdoor showers. They do not need a field that dumps bedding sand into a swale that feeds the preserve. We use geotextile under the base, keep wash water on the lot, and pitch decks to a drain we can maintain.
What we change on a preserve-edge job
No overnight stockpile in the park buffer or on the public boardwalk approach.
Amber, shielded path lights if the lot is in a turtle-lighting zone; no unshielded flood cans on the Gulf face.
Permeable joints or a small PICP panel where the city wants less sheet flow off the lot.
A rinse pad that drains to a catch basin, not across the seawall cap.
Access is the first design problem
Gulf Boulevard is the only haul route. We time deliveries off peak, protect the existing walk, and cut pavers on a wet saw with dust control so neighbors are not living in a cloud for two days.
If the lot already has a failed timber sleeper at the seawall, we replace that first-course haunch with block and a drain pipe before we reset the patio. A pretty field on a moving edge is a one-season job.
Walk the lot before you pick a color
Color samples look different under island sun than they do in a showroom. We set a small mock-up on the actual slab line. Call 727-490-9798 or email PaverForge@gmail.com for Indian Shores preserve-adjacent work.
