Treasure Island Isles Neighborhood Driveways
Treasure Island Isles is a tight barrier-island pocket where driveways share space with dune-adjacent setbacks, flood-zone elevation rules, and salt air that eats the wrong metal. A mainland section copied onto an Isles lot fails at the edge first: plastic restraint rusts or pulls, joint sand washes on a king tide, and the throat dishes toward Gulf Blvd.
What a barrier-island drive has to survive
Storm surge does not have to cover the field to wreck it. Wind-driven rain and tidal groundwater saturate the shoulder, then traffic pumps fines up through the joints. We specify a salt-tolerant edge, a washed open-graded shoulder where the lot drains, and a field elevation that still meets the garage slab without trapping water at the threshold.
Access is the other constraint. Isles lots are short, and pallet drops have to land without blocking the only travel lane. We stage from the street in planned windows, protect neighboring lawns with access mats, and keep the throat open for the household.
Materials that belong on the Isles
Concrete pavers with color through the unit hide salt fade better than a thin surface coat. Darker soldier courses hide tire scuffs from sand tracked off the beach. We avoid raw steel landscape edging; pinned restraint made for coastal work lasts. If the lot sits in a mapped flood zone, we keep the finished surface compatible with the house elevation and any future stoop rebuild.

PaverForge Hardscapes works Treasure Island, St. Pete Beach, and Madeira Beach every week. Call 727-490-9798 or email PaverForge@gmail.com with lot photos and we will check setbacks, the slab lip, and whether the existing base can be saved.
