Upham Beach Hardscapes on St. Pete Beach
Upham Beach sits on the public-access side of St. Pete Beach, a few blocks from the Don CeSar. Lots are short, sandy, and busy. A pretty paver pattern is not the job. The job is a field that stays locked when gulf storms push water across the walk and when renters roll coolers to the sand every weekend.
What an Upham Beach lot actually needs
Most of these parcels have a short front walk, a small courtyard, or a side-yard path that has to share space with AC pads, outdoor showers, and a hose bib. City right-of-way and beach-access paths limit where a truck can sit. We measure gate width and dumpster space before we quote, because a beautiful layout that cannot be staged is not a real quote.
Compacted base deep enough for sand and a high water table, not a one-inch skim.
Pitch away from the house and toward a drain or the street, not toward the neighbor.
Edge restraint that holds when the field gets walked on wet.
A joint that can be maintained after the first storm season, not a one-time cosmetic fill.
Salt, sand, and public foot traffic
Upham walks get more grit than a quiet mainland driveway. Fine beach sand works into joints. Salt sits on the surface. If the base was thin, the field starts to rock at the gate first. We do not sell sealer as a fix for that. Sealer on a rocking walk just makes a shiny, failing walk.
If we cannot get a plate compactor and clean stone onto the lot, we will say so before you pay a deposit.
