Venetian Boulevard NE is a Shore Acres canal street. Lots are short, the water table sits close to the surface, and a king tide can wet the lower courtyard even when the house stayed dry. A mainland sand bed will not lock a paver field here.

Canal-lot base, not a beach-cottage guess

We read the high-water mark, the seawall cap, and the downspouts before we excavate. The courtyard pitches to a legal outfall, not toward the slider. Through-body color holds up better under salt and sun than a face-dyed paver.

• Compacted aggregate base above the wet native sand

• Pitch away from the house and off the seawall cap walk

• Rigid edge so the field does not creep toward the dock path

• No seal until the joints are locked and the field is dry
