Address-Light Lamp-Post Plinths on Pinellas Walks
Address lights and short lamp posts fail the same way on Pinellas walks. The sleeve is set in native sand, the walk is paved around it, and the post leans after the rainy season. The border then opens because the post is pushing the first course.
Plinth before the border
We set a small compacted pad and a sleeve footing before the walk is screeded. The plinth can be a cast collar or a cut-paver pier, flush or a half-inch proud, but it is not a post stabbed into bedding sand. Conduit for the light leaves the pad in a sleeve so a later wire pull does not lift the field.
The soldier course dies into the plinth instead of butting a round post. That keeps the joint width even and gives the edge restraint a place to stop.
What this is not
This is not a mailbox wrap and it is not a structural column. A tall pier or a gate post needs its own footing. If the existing post is already leaning, we reset the sleeve rather than paver around a lean and hope the border holds it.
