ASTM C936 Interlocking Pavers and What the Spec Changes on Site
ASTM C936 is the interlocking concrete paver spec, not a brand name. It sets strength, absorption, and dimensional rules so a driveway unit is not a patio tile wearing a driveway costume.
PaverForge Hardscapes specs C936 units where the field takes cars. Call 727-490-9798.
What the spec changes in the hole
A C936 driveway paver is typically 80mm for passenger vehicles. It interlocks. The joint transfers load. A 60mm patio unit on a thin sand bed will rock, then rut, then need a re-level. We will not sell that as a driveway because it was cheaper on the pallet.
C936 interlocking units under tires
Compacted aggregate base sized to the load
Joint sand that can lock and be maintained
Edge restraint so the field does not creep
Ask the contractor to name the spec
If a quote only names a color, ask whether the unit is a C936 interlocking paver and how thick it is. Then ask what they will compact and where the water goes. Those three answers separate a field that lasts from one that looks finished on day one.
