Automatic Gate Operator and Call-Box Pads on Pinellas Drives
A sliding or swinging gate on a Pinellas driveway needs more than a pretty paver field. The operator, receiver, and call box each want a stable pad that does not heave when the rest of the drive breathes. PaverForge Hardscapes sets those pads so the gate company can bolt down once.
What the pad has to do
Operators shake. If you set the motor on bedding sand inside the paver field, the first storm season loosens the anchor bolts and the gate starts to bind. We pour or set an isolated concrete pad, sleeve conduit for power and loop wires, and then wrap pavers around the pad so the drive still reads as one surface.
Call-box and keypad pedestals need a plumb footing above splash and mulch. We keep the pad high enough that ponding at the throat of the drive does not sit against electronics, and we leave a removable paver halo for future wire pulls.
Coordination with the gate installer
We want the gate shop's pad dimensions, conduit count, and swing or slide clearance before we compact the throat of the drive. Building the field first and cutting a hole later is how you get a rocking operator and a mismatched border.
If you are adding a gate on a new or existing Pinellas paver drive, call PaverForge at 727-490-9798. We will layout the throat, pads, and sleeves with your gate installer.
