Building a Grill-Island Floor-Drain and Grease-Trap Pad in a Pinellas Outdoor Kitchen
Outdoor kitchens on Pinellas patios look finished until the first fish fry. Grease and wash-down water find the lowest joint, lock in the polymeric sand, and leave a dark fan across the field. PaverForge Hardscapes builds the island pad with a floor drain and a small grease-trap or interceptor setback so the patio stays a patio.
Drain first, then the island skin
We set the drain body and trap before the seat-wall or stainless skin goes on. The pad pitches to that drain, not to the slider. A trapped drain keeps the smell out of the cage. If the lot has no sanitary tie-in, we run the waste to a legal dry well or an approved interceptor — we do not dump grease under the pavers.
Heat, setback, and lift-out units
The grill still needs heat setback from stucco and vinyl. We keep combustible walls off the firebox and leave a ring of lift-out pavers around the drain grate so a plumber can service the trap without demo. Sealing the field happens after the kitchen trades are done, not before. Call 727-490-9798 with a photo of the planned island footprint.
